All anglers will, from time to time, need to buy some
fishing supplies. Whether it is a new rod, some line, or some terminal tackle,
like hooks. Finding a good store or tackle shop is key. Let’s face it, we all
want bargains. Paying less for products
means we can buy more. This means that the price has a major impact on what
stores we visit and prefer. This is, however, not the only factor.
The selection of goods on offer is important, but having
more options to choose from is what you want. I feel that this is something,
dare I say, lacking in Nevada. The other States have multiple stores and wide
selections of products on offer. Even some of the better-known sports stores here
in Las Vegas don’t sell any fishing supplies. The stores that do sell it, have
small, inadequate sections compared to other stores in the nation.
Strange coming from a South African that had fewer options
back in South Africa. Don’t get me wrong, we do have some great tackle shops in
South Africa. I was just hoping for more from Sin City. On the other hand, I
would not want to open a tackle shop in the desert in a tourist town. That is
where the Bass Pro Shop enters. A shopping mall compared to any of the South African
tackle shops. With more choices than you would ever need at competitive prices.
You might get a better price online, but sometimes you need
to feel or see what you are buying before buying it. This is the type of store
I wish every angler could have access to it. You go in for one item and end up spending
hours there. You see, the problem with privilege is that you don’t know what
you have if you have nothing to compare it to. Having access to this megastore
will likely influence how we experience any other tackle shops in the future, but
I hope that we can still appreciate these shops for what they are and the
service they deliver.
